Switch finally got stitched =)

After a long 8 days, Matthew Chase finally got his little chest sewn shut today! We could not be happier nor could we have been more on the edge of our seats! It was a long, trying and uneventful morning, followed by an even longer family filled afternoon and evening. It felt like forever, looking at our watches and cell phones to check the time every two minutes! Shelley and I finally got to see him tonight at exactly 9:37 p.m. (did I mention I was looking at my watch every chance I got!) He was still heavily sedated from the surgery, but at the same time he was so alive and very much full of life! It was as if we were seeing our little Switch for the very first time kinda like Humpty Dumpty, only in real life. He is doing wonderful though and he will be leaving the CICU and moving to the Step-Down Unit by the end of the weekend. I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I for one, cannot wait to hear him cry, scream at the top of his lungs, and coo, or see his smile! With the hardest part now behind us, we can move on to bigger and better things, and to becoming the best parents we can be. We will never forget this very trying and long week for as long as we live, and we couldn't have gotten through it without all of your much needed thoughts, prayers, support, and love. We are so thankful to have people in our lives who we can depend on for those kinds of things. God will bless each and everyone of you, and if there ever comes a time when we can return the favor, we will not hesitate. We love all of you, we will continue to keep everyone updated. May God bless all of you. Until next time, that's all for "Life with Switch"...
=)
Happily,
Shelley and Blake
